The climate summit, COP 24, held this year in the historically coal-dependent Polish city Katowice, has received a mixed reception from the media. Although the IPCC released its 1.5 degree special report, calling for urgent action across the globe, the summit's detractors note that the US have tried to obstruct negotiations at every turn and that the overall decisions lack "ambition" and "clarity".
However, actor, body-builder and former California Governer-turned-climate-campaigner (apparently!?) Arnold Schwarzenegger made an appearance at the summit speaking out against Trump and calling attention to the positive work that the US is doing on a local level.
Hopefully Arnie's new-found activism can help lead us optimistically forward after Trump's Total Recall of the Paris Agreement - maybe he isn't an Expendable after all.
